After opening our new facility in May 2010, we were nominated by our clients for two categories in the West Kent Business Awards. Our happy clientele secretly entered the team for Customer Care and Service, and Leisure and Tourism. In September the judges arrived, the team demonstrated their skills and undertook a guided tour of the centre, and by the end of September we were informed that we had made the finals in both categories against stiff competition.
All dressed up and incredibly nervous we arrived for the awards ceremony in October knowing we were against the most amazing businesses in West Kent. The category for customer service came first, we all quite frankly felt ill! The judge mounted the podium, went through the company presentations and announced “Better Body Shop as the winner”. We sat there for what felt like forever taking the words in before we demonstrated the energy and enthusiasm that can come from a fit and healthy team and raised the roof. Too shaky to hold the award the team just shook hands with the judges and bounced back to their seats. The rest of the categories flew by and then came Leisure and tourism. Well we had won one award. No other firm had won two so we thought we would sit back happily and congratulate another finalist, but NO, “the winner is The Better Body Shop”. Well what can I say? We have an amazing team who deserve not one but two accolades. Congratulations to our staff and all our clients at the Better Body Shop.

However, the story does not end here. Just before Christmas 2011, Alison received a telephone call from the KEIBA (Kent Excellence in Business Awards) awards committee, requesting that we attend a launch of their awards and submit our application. Quite honestly I am not sure I have the nerves for it again, but with all our clients behind us, well it would be rude not to, wouldn’t it!
Well, we are there, KEiBA finalists in the leisure and tourism category, one of the final 3 out of 265 entries! Off we go, suited and booted to Folkestone on Thursday June 30th. What a night, Better Body Shop runners up in the Kent Excellence in Business Awards, a fitting accolade to the hard work and decication of the Better Body Shop Team. Well done all.
